For members and their families
Family Medical Card
Members and their families get treatment at CGHS rates at hospitals empanelled with Shikshak Kalyaan Foundation. The card costs nothing extra: it comes with the annual membership of ₹1,500 and covers your spouse and up to 4 dependents.
How the card works
One membership covers your whole family. There is no claim form and no waiting period.
- 1
Become a member
Fill the membership form and add your spouse and dependents with their Aadhaar numbers. The annual fee is ₹1,500.
- 2
Get your card
After the fee is received and your form is approved, your Family Medical Card opens on your card page. Print it or keep it on your phone.
- 3
Visit an empanelled hospital
Show the card and the patient's Aadhaar card at the help desk. The hospital checks your card by scanning the QR code.
- 4
Pay at CGHS rates
The hospital bills you at Central Government Health Scheme rates, which are much lower than normal private rates.
What are CGHS rates?
CGHS means Central Government Health Scheme. Under this scheme the Government of India fixes the charges for consultations, lab tests, scans, procedures and hospital stays. Central government employees are treated at these rates.
Through the foundation, hospitals have agreed to treat teachers who are our members, and their families, at the same CGHS rates. More hospitals are joining.
Who is covered
- You, the member
- Your husband or wife
- Up to 4 dependents, such as children and parents
The Family Medical Card is not health insurance. You pay the hospital for your treatment, at CGHS rates. Services and rates are set by each hospital under its agreement with the foundation.
